Moscow Philharmonic
(January 2010)Among the new generation of young violinists, I would certainly refer to Alexander Kagan. He is one of those talented musicians, who deserves the attention not only of musical experts, critics, musicologists, but also by orchestra directors and managers, seeking unique personalities for the European world’s stages. As I live in Russia and unfortunately I haven’t often have the opportunity to attend performances of Alexander Kagan, I still cherish the memory of a rehearsal and a concert in Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. It was a special concert, which opened the concert season of the Moscow Philharmonic on October 1st, 2009, the “International Day of Music”. Accompanied by the Moscow State Academic Orchestra under Yuri Simonov he brilliantly performed the rarely played virtuosic variations of Gounod’s “Faust” by Wieniawski in a special project “Violin in Opera”. Together with his special artistic freedom and technical mastery, I would like to point out a rare quality among current violinists; I would describe it with the forgotten and old-fashioned word “charm”. Such special skills of Alexander Kagan as dexterity of fingers, dynamic amplitude and a special “something” allows me to attribute that to his lucky genetic inheritance. I am convinced, that those people, who take an interest in the promotion opportunities of Alexander Kagan will make the right decision, which will be welcomed with a great pleasure by Moscow Philharmonic.
