Avi Klemberg's Rodolfo...impressed with his sweet tone and firm line.
Opera Magazine
-
Avi Klemberg studied with Maurice Maievsky and Robert Dumé in Paris and was then admitted to the Conservatoire there.
In March 2009, he was invited by Riccardo Muti to make his Italian debut singing Achille in Iphigénie en Aulide at the Opera di Roma under his direction and in December 2009 he made his debut at the Theatre de la Monnaie, Brussels also as Achille in the same opera.
There followed engagements as The Italian Singer in Der Rosenkavalier in Marseille, Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte in Toulon and Rodolfo in La Bohème for Scottish Opera (his UK debut). He recently sang Cassio in Otello in Nancy and Tavannes in Les Huguenots in Brussels as well as various roles in Weinberg’s Das Portrait in Nancy.
In September 2006 he took part in the world premiere of L’autre Côté by Bruno Mantovani in Strasbourg. This production was revived at the Cité de la Musique in Paris.
He also sang in Les Noces by Stravinsky in Montpellier, Alfredo in La Traviata in Cergy and Madame Butterfly (Pinkerton) in Massy. He was then re-invited to Strasbourg for Achille in a new production of Iphigénie en Aulide and also sang Belfiore in La Finta Giardiniera at the Opéra de Fribourg, Switzerland and in Besançon.
In the concert hall, he has taken part in the title role in Gounod’s Faust, performances of Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Hospodine (Lord have mercy) by Janacek, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at the Cirque d’Hiver, Paris, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Tours and Marseille and as the Narrator in Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ at the Opéra de Toulon.

La Bohème : Scottish Opera
(February - June 2010)Avi Klemberg's Rodolfo...impressed with his sweet tone and firm line.
Opera MagazineTeamwork is everything with the four Bohemians and Avi Klemberg (Rodolfo), Benjamin Bevan (a stalwart Marcello), Christian Sist (Colline) and Julian Hubbard (Schaunard) achieve this with slick interplay both vocally and dramatically.
The ScotsmanAvi Klemberg….warmed up for some lovely, transcending duets.
The TimesIn this production, Scottish Opera have dared to introduce two brand new soloists for the lead roles of Rodolfo (Avi Klemberg) and Mimi (Celine Byrne), and frankly the decision was more than worth the risk. The two voices, graceful and elegant with all the rigour and expertise required for Puccini’s music, not only triumphed the solo material but gelled together in such a joyously unique and beautiful timbre, almost heightening the passion and drama of the score. Credit also goes to Francesco Corti, who’s conducting and musical direction allowed the flawless orchestra to carry the opera safely through to the finale...
