New Artist: cellist Antonio Meneses

We are delighted to announce that the internationally-renowned Brazilian cellist Antonio Meneses has joined the Rayfield Artists roster for representation in the UK and Ireland, Sweden, Norway, the Baltic States, China and Australia.

Regularly appearing in the music capitals of Europe, the Americas and Asia, Antonio has performed with most of the world’s leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Royal Concertgebouw, New York Philharmonic , Israel Philharmonic and the NHK Symphony in Tokyo. Among the conductors with whom he has collaborated are Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, Mstislav Rostropovich, Riccardo Muti, Mariss Jansons and Kurt Sanderling.

Throughout his career, Antonio Meneses has recorded with many of the classical industry’s leading artists and orchestras, including two discs with the Berlin Philharmonic/von Karajan (Strauss: Don Quixote and Brahms Double Concerto with Anne-Sophie Mutter), many releases with the venerable Beaux Arts Trio, of which he was a long-standing member, and, most recently, a CD with the Northern Sinfonia, directed by Antonio himself: “Meneses delivers warm and technically flawless accounts of the Haydn C major and D major supported by an enthusiastic and full-blooded contribution from the Northern Sinfonia.” - Erik Levi, BBC Music Magazine, September 2010; Sunday Times CD of the Week, 18 July 2010
