His interviewer Andrew Stewart is equally impressed, however, with Mahan’s ‘clear understanding and strikingly mature wisdom’ in his approach to early music, stating that ‘Mahan Esfahani stands for a generation of young musicians increasingly opposed to vanilla-flavoured performances’.
