House debuts for Alexander Briger and Peter Sidhom at the Théâtre du Châtelet

04 April 2012

On Tuesday April 10th, the Théâtre du Châtelet will present the opening night of a new production of John Adams’ Nixon in China. Making his house debut, Alexander Briger will also be conducting an opera by John Adams for the first time. Previous appearances in Paris have included concerts with the Orchestre de Paris and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

Peter Sidhom also makes his house debut in this production playing the role of Henry Kissinger. This follows “world-beating performances” (Financial Times) as Alberich in Opera de Paris’ complete Der Ring des Nibelungen last year, as well as recent performances in Peter Grimes and Simon Boccanegra.

The Châtelet’s Nixon in China is produced and choreographed by Chen Shi-Zheng. June Anderson sings Pat Nixon and Sumi Jo sings Madame Mao.
