Christian Blackshaw delivers “fresh and profound Mozart”

8 July 2015

The eternal perfectionist Christian Blackshaw is now regarded as “one of today’s most completely accomplished keyboard Mozartians” (BBC Music Magazine). Vol. 3 of his complete Mozart Sonatas, recorded at the Wigmore Hall in the 12/13 season, has been chosen as Instrumental Choice in August’s BBC Music Magazine. Max Loppert states that it “demonstrates anew the refinement of execution and mastery of style and content that has gained previous instalments of this Wigmore Hall Live cycle high praise.” In another five-star review, Christian Blackshaw is described as “a model of unflashy mastery” (Classical Music Magazine).

This summer sees recitals at the White Nights Festival, at the invitation of Valery Gergiev, and Snape Proms as well as an already sold-out BBC Chamber Prom with members of the Royal Northern Sinfonia performing Mozart’s Quintet for piano and winds.

The 15/16 season opens with Mozart’s K. 466 with the Bamberger Symfoniker under Jonathan Nott in Barcelona and Madrid, followed by a collaboration with I Musici de Montréal in Québec. He returns to the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI in Turin performing K. 595 and makes his debut with the BBC Scottish Symphony with K. 491. Future recitals include returns to the Wigmore Hall and White Nights Festival as well as a tour in China and Singapore.
