Rozhdestvensky returns to Yomiuri Nippon as Honorary Conductor

Gennady Rozhdestvensky returns to the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra as Honorary Conductor for three concerts this month.

The programme consists of Shostakovich’s The Age of Gold Suite and Symphony No. 10 with the composer’s first piano concerto performed by Viktoria Postnikova.

The 16/17 season includes a new period with Concerto Budapest, a tour with the Russian National Orchestra and Mikhail Pletnev as soloist and the opening concert at the Dresden Staatskapelle Shostakovich Festival.

Maestro Rozhdestvensky will also be on the Jury for the LSO Donatella Flick Conducting Competition this November, alongside colleagues including Yuri Termirkanov and Antonio Pappano.
