Christian Blackshaw performs complete Mozart cycles in Shanghai and Tokyo

10 July 2017

Christian Blackshaw performs the full Mozart piano sonata cycle at Shanghai Symphony Hall and Tokyo's Musashino Hall in July 2017 over four evening concerts in each city respectively.

Blackshaw's complete cycle at Wigmore Hall between 2012 and 2013, having been released as a four-volume collection, received critical acclaim and the recordings were Editor's Choice and Instrumental Choice in publications including Classical Music Magazine, BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone. The fourth and final volume was listed in The New York Times 'Best Classical Music Recordings'.

As Editor’s Choice in Classical Music Magazine, Guy Weatherall writes that “Blackshaw’s Mozart is an object lesson in clarity” and that this is “shaping up to be the most important cycle of these treasurable works since Schiff and Uchida.
