Christian Blackshaw celebrates 18/19 residency at Wigmore Hall

20 September 2018

A pianist of “unique” and “captivating” qualities, Christian Blackshaw turns seventy during the 18/19 season, where he celebrates a three concert recital series at London’s Wigmore Hall.

The residency opens with a sold out chamber recital alongside Soloists of the Berliner Philharmoniker (Noah Bendix-Balgley, Máté Szücs, Bruno Delepelaire and Matthew McDonald) on Monday 24 September. They perform two Mozart Piano Quartets (K478 / K493) and Schubert's Trout Quintet.

Blackshaw returns to the Wigmore Hall on Friday 21 December with recital partner Alice Coote, with whom he recorded Schumann Lieder in 2015.

To end the three concert residency, John Gilhooly invites Christian Blackshaw to give a gala recital on Mozart's own birth day, Sunday 27 January 2019. He has crafted a programme of Schubert, Franck, Schumann and of course, Mozart.
