Composer Stuart MacRae joins Rayfield Allied

1 May 2018

Rayfield Allied is delighted to welcome composer Stuart MacRae to our roster for General Management.

His music is featured regularly at the BBC Proms and Edinburgh International Festival and his most recent opera, The Devil Inside, was described by the Guardian as "eloquent and beautifully crafted" and by the Daily Telegraph as "powered by an abrasive vitality and nervous tension, shot through with bright edgy orchestration and vivid vocal writing".

Scottish Opera recently announced the world premiere of his next opera, Anthropocene, in January 2019. He is also Composer-in-Residence at the Lammermuir Festival from 2017 - 2019, writing one work per year.

MacRae's music has been performed by many of the leading symphony orchestras throughout the UK and Europe and has been conducted by Martyn Brabbins, Oliver Knussen, Jan Latham-Koenig, Susanna Malkki, David Robertson, Donald Runnicles, John Storgårds and Ilan Volkov. He is particularly closely associated with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra where he was Composer-in-Association for five years and who have performed his Violin Concerto with both Tasmin Little and Christian Tetzlaff.
