John Chest awarded Richard Tucker Music Foundation Career Grant

American baritone John Chest has been awarded a Career Grant by the Richard Tucker Music Foundation. The Richard Tucker Music Foundation was founded in 1975 to support young American singers in honour of the legacy of the American tenor Richard Tucker. The $10,000 Career Grant is awarded to three singers each year to help support their careers.

John Chest’s upcoming engagements include Conte Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Opera Philadelphia); Nick Carraway The Great Gatsby (Staatsoper Dresden); and a return to Berlin for the title role of Billy Budd as well as major roles at the Glyndebourne Festival, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Teatro Municipal Santiago, and the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich.

He has recently been interviewed by opera website Schmopera about his upcoming roles with Opera Philadelphia and Deutsche Oper Berlin, as well as the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, where this summer he will compete for both the Song Prize and Main Prize. Watch the interview here.
