Rayfield Allied artists celebrate the festive season worldwide

5 December 2017

As Christmas fast approaches, Rayfield Allied artists are busy performing Advent and Christmas repertoire. It is a popular time of year for Handel's Messiah and J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio and many of our artists are performing these two works worldwide.

In London, Matthew Brook performs under the baton of Stephen Layton for a duo of J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio and Handel's Messiah at St John's, Smith Square with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Polyphony and The Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge. Nick Pritchard sings Messiah at the Royal Festival Hall with the Mozart Festival Orchestra.

Elsewhere in the UK, Mhairi Lawson performs Messiah with the Dunedin Consort and also with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Laurence Cummings. William Towers tours the UK singing Messiah for the Hanover Band and performs Christmas Oratorio with the Royal Northern Sinfonia under the baton of Lars Vogt.

Slightly further afield, Nicholas Mogg performs Messiah solos for a tour of Spain with Instruments of Time and Truth and Oxford Voices. David Wilson-Johnson and Joshua Ellicott join The King's Consort for a tour of Messiah and Christopher Ainslie also tours across Europe singing Christmas Oratorio with Les Musiciens du Louvre.

In Denmark, Fflur Wyn, Robin Blaze and Grant Doyle perform Christmas Oratorio with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of our conductor David Hill. Peter Harvey and James Oxley perform Messiah with the OAE in Denmark and Katie Bray also sings Messiah with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra under Bjarte Eike.

Elsewhere in Europe, Peter Harvey performs Messiah with Nicholas Mulroy and the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and Cappella Amsterdam and with Joshua Ellicott and the Orquestra Sinfonica de Bilbao. Peter Harvey also performs Christmas Oratorio with the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra in Lisbon. Julia Jones conducts Christmas Oratorio with the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal and William Towers and Nicholas Mulroy perform Christmas Oratorio in Riga, Latvia with the Latvijas Koncerti.

In the US, Morgan Smith sings Messiah with the Kansas City Symphony and Brett Polegato also performs Messiah with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. In Boston, Katherine Watson sings Messiah with the Handel and Haydn Society.

Aside from these two famously festive works, our artists are also involved in other Christmas celebrations worldwide. Ari Pelto conducts the Christmas ballet The Nutcracker at Atlanta Ballet. At Goteborgs Opera, Mats Almgren performs in A Christmas Tale. Anna Harvey performs in 'Christmas with Music in the Round' in Sheffield with Roderick Williams and Jesus Leon performs in the 'Spirit of Christmas' concerts at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

In London, Francesca Chiejina performs a Christmas concert with the London Choral Sinfonia at St John's Smith Square and violinist Jennifer Pike appears at Holy Trinity Sloane Square in a celebrity-studded carol concert for 'Children and the Arts'. The Cardinall's Musick perform an Advent programme at Wigmore Hall, London. David Hill records carols with the BBC Singers as part of their carol competition; they will then perform the successful entries in a concert at Cadogan Hall. He also conducts the Philharmonia in carols at the Royal Albert Hall.
