Ivors Composer Awards nomination for Laura Bowler’s ‘wicked problems’

11 November 2021

Congratulations to Laura Bowler, who has been announced as a nominee in the Ivors Composer Awards' 'Small Chamber Composition' category, for her work wicked problems.

This nomination follows Laura's success at the 2021 Royal Philharmonic Society awards, where wicked problems won in the 'Chamber-Scale Composition', which is awarded to 'an outstandingly imaginative and engaging chamber-scale work receiving its first UK performance'.

wicked problems was premiered in October 2020 by the composer herself and flautist Ruth Morley at Aberdeenshire's 'sound' festival, who also commissioned the piece. You can hear the premiere performance on Youtube here. Laura also performed wicked problems in Glasgow at COP26 in November 2021, which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3's New Music Show, and can be heard here.

More details can be found at The Ivors Composer Awards website here. The winners will be announced in a ceremony on the 8th December 2021 in London.
