Héloïse Werner presents two programmes for International Women's Day at Wigmore Hall

6 March 2023

In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8 2023, composer and soprano Héloïse Werner curates two recitals for Wigmore Hall. The first, a lunchtime concert in collaboration with the Tippett Quartet, features a world premiere from Héloïse, alongside music by Caroline Shaw, Freya Waley-Cohen, Doreen Carwithen, and Kate Whitley. Her new work, Les Leçons du Mardi, features a libretto by Emma Werner, based on a text by a multi-media science storyteller. Tickets are available here.

In the second performance of the day, Héloïse's ensemble The Hermes Experiment presents an eclectic and original evening programme of recent works and arrangements. Recipients of the 2021 Young Artist Award from the Royal Philharmonic Society, The Hermes Experiment is a contemporary quartet made up of harp, clarinet, voice, and double bass. Capitalising on their deliberately idiosyncratic combination of instruments, the ensemble regularly commissions new works, as well as creating their own innovative arrangements and venturing into live free improvisation. Tickets are available here.
