A well-known specialist in the bel canto repertoire, baritone Vittorio Prato has sung leading roles in operas by Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti, preeminent internationally as one of the most interesting singers of his generation.

After graduating in piano and harpsicord from The Conservatoire of Bologna, he studied singing with Ivo Vinco, Luciano Pavarotti, Dmitry Vdovin and Sherman Lowe. He attended the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, where he performed in “Il viaggio a Reims” (Don Alvaro). He won the “Mattia Battistini International Competition” and “Sacred Music Competition”.

His 2023/2024 season includes Escamillo Carmen (Oper im Steinbruch, St. Margarethen), Figaro Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Liège), Giuseppe Rivoluzione (La Monnaie, Brussels),

Prato has performed with such conductors as Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Donato Renzetti, Daniel Oren, and he has worked with such directors as Pierluigi Pizzi, Yannis Kokkos, Antonio Latella.
