New Artist: Soprano Juliana Zara

Rayfield Allied is delighted to welcome Californian soprano Juliana Zara to the roster for general management. She was recently nominated for the prestigious German Theater Prize Der Faust for her portrayal of Lulu and thanks to her success, she was featured on the cover of the May 2023 edition of Opernwelt Magazine. In the same season, she was nominated as Opus Klassik’s Singer of the Year for her interpretation of Bubikopf in her recording of Der Kaiser von Atlantis with Munich Radio Orchestra under the baton of Patrick Hahn.

A former member of the Opernstudio at the Bayerische Staatsoper and more recently as a member of the ensemble at Staatstheater Darmstadt, her roles include Frasquita (Carmen), Philine (Mignon), Ophelia (Hamlet), ZerbinettaNajade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Blonde (Entführung aus dem Serail), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Norina (Don Pasquale), Isotta (Die Schweigsame Frau), Fiakermilli (Arabella), Adele (Die Fledermaus), and Cunegonde (Candide). 

This season at Staatstheater Darmstadt she sings Olympia in Lescontes d’HoffmannAdina in L’elisir d’amore, and Morgana in Alcina. She also makes her Carnegie Hall debut singing the US premier of Unsuk Chin’s Puzzles and Games for soprano and orchestra in Zankel Hall, performs Cheshire Cat in Chin’s Alice in Wonderland at the Saturday matinee series at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as makes her role debut as Tinkerbell in a world-premiere of Peter Pan by Frank Schwemmer with the Luxembourg Philharmonic.
