Deborah Warner's acclaimed production of Peter Grimes returns to Covent Garden this month, with performances on 05, 08, 12, 15, 21, 25 and 28 May, conducted by the Royal Ballet & Opera's Music Director Jakub Hrůša.
Last seen in London in 2022, the production was much lauded by the British press, which judged it 'evocative', 'theatrical', 'telling', 'potent' and 'striking'. This latest revival is the third in a trio of Britten's operas for Deborah this season, which began with a new production of The Turn of the Screw for the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma which was then followed by a new production of A Midusmmer Night's Dream for the Teatro Real in Madrid. In addition to Britten, Deborah's busy 2025/26 season includes a revival of her staging of Schubert's Winterreise at the Théâtre de l'Athénée in Paris and her debut at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl with a new double bill of Berlioz' La mort de Cléopâtre and Puccini's Suor Angelica. Her production of Eugene Onegin also returns to the Metropolitan Opera in New York
