Artist in Focus this week is tenor James Way!
James is fast gaining international recognition for the versatility of his voice and commanding stage presence.
This past season saw him work with Les Arts Florissants, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra, Garsington Festival at the Proms, English Concert, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
James has worked with many of the world’s leading conductors, including Robin Ticciati, Jakub Hrůša, Kazuki Yamada, René Jacobs, Dalia Stasevska and Marc Minkowski. Has also established strong working relationships with William Christie, Harry Bicket and Barbara Hannigan.
On the Opera stage, James has performed the role of Flute in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Glyndebourne where he will also return this autumn and for Garsington Opera, Holy Fool in Boris Godunov with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and Young King in George Benjamin’s Lessons of Love and Violence with Orchestre de Paris.
James is in demand as an interpreter of Handel’s music with his performances of Messiah winning praise with orchestras internationally including Handel & Haydn Society Boston, Les Arts Florissants, Freiburger Barockorchester, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Dunedin Consort.

Last month marked the release of James Way’s album with his recital partner Natalie Burch of Britten’s Canticles with Delphian.
