Jennifer Pike releases Vol.2 of her critically acclaimed Polish Violin discs for Chandos

4 October 2021

On Friday 1st October 2021, Jennifer Pike's latest album, 'The Polish Violin Vol.2' was released on Chandos.

The disc is part of Pike's wider project of exploring the cultural and musical heritage of her family, and features works by Szymanowski, Poldowski and Bacewicz.

She reunites with recital partner Petr Limonov after the success of their first disc, which was released in January 2019 and was reviewed as "a simply ravishing disc, thrillingly played" by The Strad, and was BBC Music Magazine's Chamber Choice.

Jennifer writes: "This recording project of Polish music is one that is particularly close to my heart. The idea for the series arose from an awareness of the sound world associated with Polish music, of the country’s long-held fascination with the violin, and of my own Polish heritage on my mother’s side. As a successor to the first volume, released in 2019, this album continues to explore a breadth of repertoire that includes some rarely heard gems."
