Allison Cook returns to English National Opera as Mrs XE in the London premiere of Angel's Bone

15 October 2026

Described by The Times as “a mesmerising singer-actor who never lacks intensity or intelligence", Allison Cook returns to English National Opera  as Mrs XE in the London premiere of Kip Williams' production of Du Yun's Angel's Bone, following her critically acclaimed performances in Manchester earlier this year.

Renowned for her fearless interpretations of some of opera's most demanding roles, Allison is a fearless and extraordinarily versatile performer, equally at home in the most demanding contemporary repertoire and the great dramatic roles.

Recent performances alone have ranged from Salome and Gertrude in Hamlet to the intensely exposed solo role of Elle in La voix humaine, and now the formidable Mrs XE.Allison premiered Kip Williams’s production of Angel’s Bone in Manchester earlier this year, where The Guardian described her as “relentless as Mrs X E, her supple mezzo embracing the melismatic vocal lines even as she metamorphoses into a Trumpian reality star.” The Stage called it “a true star performance.”

The show opens on Friday and further performances take place on:
