Mikheil Kiria was born in Zugdidi, Western Georgia in 1986. In 2010, he graduated from the Academic Singing Faculty of Tbilisi State Conservatoire, where he also completed his masters.
On the concert platform, he has performed regularly throughout Europe. He has performed at all the major singing festivals in Georgia since 2005, and in 2007 he won a scholarship from the International Foundation ‘Paata Burchuladze’. As the First Prize winner of the 2010 International Course ‘Lado Ataneli’, he made his debut the same year at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire Opera Studio singing Germont La Traviata.
His operatic repertoire includes Almaviva Le Nozze di Figaro and Levan in the Georgian composer V. Dolize’s opera Keto e Kote. In the autumn of 2012, he joined the Accademia di Perfezionamento per Cantanti Lirici del Teatro alla Scala where he sang Notaio Don Pasquale and also covered the role of Malatesta, together with performing Ein Wächter Die Frau ohne Schatten. In March 2013, he performed Cavaliere Belfiore Un Giorno di Regno with the Fondazione Arena di Verona.
Current engagements include Britten’s Il Piccolo Spazza Camino and Blansac La Scala di Seta at Teatro alla Scala.
Mikheil Kiria has taken part in many high-level master-classes including workshops with the esteemed Mirella Freni, Luigi Alva, Luciana Serra, Vincenzo Scalera and James Vaughan. He is currently studying with M° Renato Bruson.
