On February 23 Barrie Kosky was awarded 'Best Director' for his production of Hotel Metamorphosis at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival, at the 2026 Oper! Awards.
During his acceptance speech he said "I only work in opera because I work in collaboration with wonderful conductors, fantastic actors, fantastic technical specialists, stage designers, costume designers - that's why I do my job... I like to do that with every production, but in particular this production in Salzburg."
