Rayfield Allied is excited to announce the signing of conductor Benjamin Goodson for general management.
Currently Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir, from 2028 he will take up to post of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of SWR Vokalensemble, one of Europe’s most pioneering and virtuosic ensembles.
With a flair for creative programming and a razor-sharp ear, Goodson has built a distinctive artistic profile, spanning baroque and oratorio, through to 20th and 21st century music, with a strong focus on vocal repertoire. He has built relationships with orchestras and choirs throughout Europe and the Far East, alongside composers including Sir James MacMillan, Jörg Widmann and Jonathan Dove.
His most recent recording for Pentatone included motets by Mendelssohn and Rheinberger and received five stars from BBC Music Magazine, and will be followed up with a new recording of Sir James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross.
As well as his regular commitments with the Netherlands Radio Choir, highlights for the upcoming season include guest appearances with BBC Singers, Swedish Radio Choir, Baseler Madrigalisten and Klangforum Wien, in repertoire ranging from Bach, Stravinsky and Britten to new music by Chaya Czernowin, Juan Trigos and Voro García. He also performs works by Samy Moussa and Missy Mazzoli at the Concertgebouw, conducts Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Netherlands Radio Orchestra and St Matthew Passion on tour with PhilZuid.
