Conductor Paul McCreesh has been awarded a CBE for services to music and music education in the King’s Birthday Honours 2026.
Founder and Artistic Director of Gabrieli, the acclaimed vocal consort and period-instrument ensemble, McCreesh has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to musical life over nearly five decades. Alongside his celebrated performances and award-winning recordings with Gabrieli, he has enjoyed an international conducting career with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Bergen Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
