Huge congratulations to mezzo-soprano Anna Harvey on winning first prize (Prix Pierre Verne) in the 7th edition of the Paris Opera Competition. This biennial event is devoted to discovering and helping to promote young opera singers, and took place this year at Paris Opera’s Palais Garnier.
As one of the 9 finalists, Anna sang her favourite roles in the final: Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito), Hänsel (Hänsel and Gretel), and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier).
Anna is currently a member of the solo ensemble at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and returned this season to Welsh National Opera, where she had previously been an Associate Artist, to sing the role of Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.
