Matthew Brook’s Polyphemus is BBC Radio 3’s first choice

4 July 2009

Already Disc of the Month (The Gramophone), Opera & Vocal Disc of the Month (Classic FM Magazine), and CD of the Week (The Observer), the Dunedin Consort’s Acis and Galatea on Linn Records has been selected as First Choice Recommendation by BBC Radio 3. Matthew Brook “presents an undiluted paradox of naive tenderness, convivial clumsiness and grotesque lust” as Polyphemus, says David Vickers on Building a Library (BBC Radio 3).

Matthew returns to the Edinburgh Festival this year to perform Bach cantatas with the Dunedin Consort; he also sings Mendelssohn’s epic oratorio Elijah at the Three Choirs Festival (Hereford) with the Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as the same composer’s Die Erste Walpurgisnacht with the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées.
