Mahan Esfahani shortlisted for Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award

Mahan Esfahani has been shortlisted for a Royal Philharmonic Society Award in the Instrumentalist Category. The winner will be announced at the presentation 28 November 2019 held at Battersea Arts Centre, which also marks the 30th anniversary of the awards.

The RPS awards celebrate ‘the outstanding, the pioneering, and the inspirational in classical music’. Mahan Esfahani’s extensive activities throughout the UK in the previous season have included residencies with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia, two CDs, The Passinge Mesures, and The Toccatas recorded and released by Hyperion, regular broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 including his own three-part series entitled The Alternative Bach, the continuation of his multi-year concert series at the Wigmore Hall in which he performs the entire collection of JS Bach’s works for keyboard, appearances at the Edinburgh International Festival, and BBC Scottish Symphony’s Tectonics Festival, as well as recitals in all corners of the country.
